get priority notification of scholarship opportunities, and file for financial aid earlier. 

Wartburg is test-optional so an ACT or SAT score is not required of U.S. domestic students for admission or scholarship purposes.
International students must submit a TOEFL, IELTS, EIKEN, PTE Academic, ACT, SAT, or Duolingo score for admission.

Follow these steps to apply to Wartburg College:

  1. Complete and submit the Wartburg Application or The Common App.
  2. Mail or email high school and/or college transcripts. 
  3. Home schooled high school applicants should review these special instructions.
  4. Provide an academic recommendation (if requested)

After you have completed an online application above, send in the following documents:

  • Transcripts from your secondary school.  Please include national exam scores (if applicable).
  • ONE test score.  This can be TOEFL, IELTS, EIKEN, PTE Academic, ACT, SAT, or Duolingo.
  • Financial Documents: Please complete the International Student Application for Financial Aid form (ISAFA) or CSS Profile (Wartburg Code 6926). Please also send a bank statement or official bank letter outlining the amount of money your sponsor or family has available to help fund your education.

Wartburg College Test Score Requirements

Wartburg offers two levels of admission for non-U.S. citizen applicants. Students may choose from the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic, EIKEN, GTEC, Duolingo exams. Only one test score is required.

Regular Admission: students must achieve the following minimum test scores or equivalents on approved exams:
TOEFL: Paper—550/iBT—80 | IELTS: 6.0 | ACT: 19 | SAT: 980 (CR + M)Step EIKEN: Grade Pre-1st | PTE Academic: 53 | GTEC CBT: 1200 | Duolingo: 105-160

Bridge Program: students are formally admitted to the bachelor’s degree program but must take Intensive English requirements as part of their first semester.

Information for international graduate student applicants

Wartburg College is currently recruiting for online-only programs, which require no U.S. residency, and are not U.S. visa-eligible programs. Therefore, Wartburg College does not issue I-20 visa application forms for students enrolling in the Graduate Certificate or M.A. Leadership programs. The following will be required of international graduate student applicants:

  • To demonstrate proficiency in English, students must provide a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80, DuoLingo score of 110 or IELTS English-proficiency score of 6.0; OR have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree taught in English.
  • Prior to admission, students will need to complete the International Student Application for Financial Aid form (ISAFA) 
  • Prior to admission, students submitting transcripts from colleges or universities not in the United States will need to submit to World Education Services for a course-by-course credit evaluation.
  • Prior to final program admission decision, an interview with program representatives is required.
