Student Intervention Team

Student intervention at Wartburg College intends to recognize student needs for support and equip faculty, staff, and other members of the Wartburg community with the tools to address these needs and refer students for appropriate support.

Wartburg’s Student Intervention philosophy is designed to empower students to connect as a community, support individual growth, and succeed through a holistic and collaborative approach. We aim to remove barriers while providing resources that foster individual growth and ownership of the learning process. Our strengths-based methodology encourages students to engage with academic, spiritual, and emotional networks, promoting a well-rounded foundation for success. We believe in working alongside students, ensuring they have agency in their journey. Together, we create an environment that paves the way for long-term achievement and personal fulfillment.

Intervention Team Goals

  • Empower faculty and staff to be the first lines of intervention
  • Empower students to recover after difficult setbacks academically and personally
  • Provide all students access to people and resources dedicated to their success
  • Increase retention of students referred for support
  • Increase transparency with students about the student referral system and minimize stigma around intervention efforts
